Troubleshooting
Common Questions
macOS says Kinoir is "damaged" or "cannot be verified" when opening.
Because Kinoir is a free, open-source project without a paid Apple Developer subscription, macOS Gatekeeper places internet downloads into quarantine by default. The app is not actually damaged.
Quick fix: Right-click Kinoir.app in Finder, select Open, and click Open again. (You only have to do this once.)
Terminal fix (Recommended): If macOS hides the "Open anyway" button entirely, you can easily fix this via Terminal:
- Open the downloaded DMG and drag Kinoir.app to your Applications folder.
- Open your Mac's Terminal (Cmd + Space, type "Terminal").
- Copy and paste the command below, then press Enter:
xattr -cr /Applications/Kinoir.app
How do I connect the local AI Concierge?
Kinoir uses Ollama to run models locally. Once Ollama is installed on your Mac, Kinoir will automatically detect the background service. You can choose which model to pull directly in Kinoir's Settings.
Does Kinoir support MKV files?
Yes! While Kinoir has a built-in fallback player, for the best format compatibility (including MKV and advanced subtitles), it integrates natively with IINA. Just install IINA on your Mac and Kinoir will use it automatically.
